Love doesn’t care about borders.
That’s something we’ve learned first-hand in our journey as an international couple.
We come from two different countries and two different cultures
And yet, our hearts found a way to meet halfway.
How It All Started
We first met online just two strangers in different corners of the world.
At first, it was simple conversations, laughter over random topics, and late-night chats.
But slowly, we realized this connection was special.
We decided to give it a real chance, even if it meant navigating the challenges of a Long Distance Relationship (LDR)
The Early Days of Our LDR
Starting an international LDR isn’t exactly easy.
We had to deal with:
- Different daily routines — Our schedules didn’t always match, so we had to be creative in finding time for each other.
- Language quirks — sometimes words didn’t translate perfectly, but our patience did. we are from diffferent country so we talking in english but sometimes we have missunderstood about something, then we use body language to explain something. But fortunetaly we always understand each other.
But honestly? Those challenges also became our favorite part of the journey.
Challenges We Face
Every LDR couple has their own battles, and we’re no different. For us, it often looks like this:
- Missing each other on important days — birthdays, anniversaries, or even just a lazy Sunday we wish we could spend together.
- Wanting to give a hug but can’t — especially when one of us is having a bad day.
- Finding the right time to talk — juggling work, studies, and time zones isn’t always easy.
- Dealing with moments of loneliness and doubt — sometimes the distance feels heavier than usual, and we have to remind ourselves why we’re doing this.
Our Special Moments
One of the most exciting things is knowing that one day, we’ll finally meet in person.
We already have plans (and a countdown!) for that moment.
In the meantime, we make the most of our online time watching movies together, playing games, and even cooking the same recipe at the same time.
Tips for Other International LDR Couples
If you’re in a relationship like ours, here are some tips that have worked for us:
- Be honest about your feelings, even the tough ones.
- Set a routine for calls or messages.
- Celebrate small wins together.
- Make realistic plans to meet in person.
- Learn each other’s culture and language.
Looking Ahead
We know LDR isn’t for everyone, but for us, it’s worth it.
Every message, every video call, every “good morning” and “good night” is a reminder that love is worth the effort.
If you’re also in an international LDR, know this distance can test your love, but it can also make it stronger.
And if you want to follow our journey, come say hi to us on DualPassportCouple. We’d love to connect with you. ❤️
